{"id":2789,"date":"2019-01-15T23:30:30","date_gmt":"2019-01-15T23:30:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/buxtonac.org.uk\/?p=2789"},"modified":"2019-01-15T23:30:30","modified_gmt":"2019-01-15T23:30:30","slug":"wilson-on-fire-at-heaton","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.buxtonac.org.uk\/?p=2789","title":{"rendered":"Wilson On Fire at Heaton!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The competition at the Manchester Area Cross Country League is steadily coming to a head with the penultimate race held last weekend at Heaton Park, Manchester.\u00a0 13 Buxton AC juniors took part in this the forth of 5 races, in which you best 4 positions count in the overall league result.<\/p>\n<p>First race of the day was the under 11 where Dylan Gray did a stirling job of representing Buxton coming in 66th position, Aoife Lennon led the girls home in 56th with sisters Rachel and Rebecca Cudahy chasing each other to the finish line to come in 65th and 69th respectively.\u00a0 The U11 girls team finished 19th.\u00a0 149 under 11\u2019s ran.<\/p>\n<p>Next up were the under 13 and Buxton\u2019s Sienna Phillips and Grace Bond who lined up with 121 runners all taking on the cold, windy, hilly course.\u00a0 Sienna had a cracking race to come in an impressive 26th and Grace worked really hard to finish 68th girl.<\/p>\n<p>The under 15 race saw rising start Harry Bond put in a great run to finish 19th boy, with team mate Amy Whelan, going from strength to strength this season in an amazing 12th, and Ava Hazelhurst making her debut in this league with a great run to finish 42nd.\u00a0 91 ran in the under 15 race.<\/p>\n<p>Having an outstanding season this year is Ellie Wilson who ran in the under 17 race.\u00a0 Ellie is in a very strong position in the league having been in the top 3 for all the races so far \u2013 topping up her cumulative place with an epic 2nd place in this race.\u00a0 Ellie should be guaranteed a podium position after the last race but what colour medal will it be?<\/p>\n<p>In the same race were Sam Soles and Staurt Diamond who are both flying this season.\u00a0 Sam had another great race to finish 7th with Stuart not far behind in 15th.\u00a0 51 under 17\u2019s ran.<\/p>\n<p>In the last race of the day Buxton Junior Jacob Miller ran in the adult men\u2019s race were worsening conditions made an already tough course even more difficult with driving rain and mud.\u00a0 466 men took on the challenge with Jacob finishing 127th overall \u2013 an awesome 5th under 20 man.<\/p>\n<p>Buxton Juniors team manager Rachel Dowle said, \u201cthe resilience of our juniors never fails to amaze me! The harder the conditions the harder they work! To get such a great turn out in such horrible weather just shows how determined and dedicated they are!
