No \u201ctame trail race\u201d, the Lakes Mountains 42 mile event is aimed at those with excellent mountain running skills. Taking in one of the Lake District\u2019s three biggies, Helvellyn, there are ten thousand feet of ascent and descent, so not to be taken lightly. Starting at the ungodly hour of 6am from Askham, as well as taking in Helvellyn, the route traverses the beautiful ridge of High Street with stunning views over Ullswater.<\/p>\n
Despite it being the longest race he\u2019d ever run, this didn\u2019t deter Nigel Jeff from taking part and, with a finishing time of 9 hours 39 minutes and 53 seconds in 44th<\/sup> place from a field of 147, it was an outstanding achievement for him.<\/p>\n Gill Thompson is a regular at the nationally popular Parkruns, having taken part in 32 different events around the UK, and last weekend at Glossop clocked up her 100th<\/sup> race, quite some achievement.\u00a0\u00a0 Her time was 28.05, and she was placed 75th<\/sup> from a field of 181. Neil Evans, at the same event, finished in 24.37 in 38th<\/sup>, Justin Holmes 26.43 in 56th<\/sup> and Michael Abrahams 30.16 in 98th<\/sup> place.<\/p>\n Seven Buxtonians headed down to the Monsal Trail at Hassop Station, Bakewell, to race in the Parkrun and Paul Wardman\u2019s first outing there gave him a cracking 22nd<\/sup> finishing place from a huge field of 320, in 22.08. Close behind was regular Park runner Pete Bailey, who finished in 51st<\/sup> in a time of 22.26, while Ian Drayton came home in 24.30 (91st<\/sup>). The \u2018\u201ddream team\u201d of Katie Rolfe and son Matt finished together in 25.35 (110th<\/sup> and 111th<\/sup>). Kathryn Dobson and Selina Thompson claimed personal best times on the speedy course, 143rd<\/sup> (26.29) and 213th<\/sup> (29.25) respectively.<\/p>\n Another personal best time gave Ross Martland something to smile about at the Macclesfield Parkrun and from a field of 270, his 25th<\/sup> finishing position and 22.06 time it\u2019s no surprise he was pleased. Nichola Sargeant took part for the first time at the Macclesfield event, finishing in 181st<\/sup> place in 30.26.
