National Championships Silver"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3442 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/buxtonac.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/66117579_10157701932376807_2356150528087425024_o-1-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/>This weekend Buxton AC hosted the last race in the English Junior Fells Championships &#8220;Up The Nab!&#8221;\u00a0 The Juniors were in Bronze team position with several individuals in contention for a podium finish, so it was all to play for.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3444 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/buxtonac.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/66415073_10157701933891807_3034586018884878336_o-2-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Glossop Rugby Club was the start venue and the routes took in the steep slopes of Slack Edge up to Whiteley Nab with an elevation of 300m, and stunning views all the way.\u00a0 It was a gorgeous, sunny day which added to the <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3443 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/buxtonac.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/66194875_10157701932076807_7845792921981812736_o-1-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/>challenge but didn&#8217;t stop 24 Buxton juniors running their hearts out!\u00a0 And at the end of the day the team managed to push Buxton AC up the podium to finish in an outstanding with an Team Silver in this National competition.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3445 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/buxtonac.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/66094006_10157701933396807_1296804133088526336_o-1-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/>Not only did the team grab Silver but 3 individuals also earnt Silver medals.\u00a0 Sam Soles won his race to take overall Silver medal in the U19 Championships, Will Longden added another 2nd place finish to also secure Silver in the under 17 boys and Lucy Bednall made it a hat-trick also coming in 2nd and seizing Silver in the U17 girls.<\/p>\n<p>The Buxton team had runners aged from 6 years old racing in this competition and the youngest &#8211; Stanley Cook led<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3446 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/buxtonac.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/66104328_10157701935126807_7052487792118464512_o-1-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/> the under 9&#8217;s home in a cracking 6th with team mate Jimmy Golden racing down the hill in 13th.\u00a0 Evie Willis made her debut in the Championships with a excellent 8th with Hannah Cudahy not far behind in 9th.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3447 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/buxtonac.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/66016306_10157701934851807_5867561252078747648_o-1-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/>Jonty Brown and Dylan Gray ran well in the under U11 boys race with Jonty coming in 5th and Dylan 17th.\u00a0 Erin Colebrook came a fantastic 5th in her first Championships race with team mates Flo Brown and Rachel Cudahy also flying in 10th and 12th.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3448 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/buxtonac.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/66713393_10157701935536807_2301086255623962624_o-1-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The under 13 race had an impressive 66 youngsters running with Buxton&#8217;s Jack Cook finishing a terrific twelve, Lucy Whelan stormed home in 10th, with team mates packing well &#8211; Grace Bond 23rd, Molly Golden 25th and Rebecca <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3449 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/buxtonac.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/66120963_10157701936051807_4132722668715638784_o-1-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/>Cudahy 29th.<\/p>\n<p>Lauren Wilshaw scored a super 6th, chased by Grace Longden in 8th and Sienna Phillips 12th U13 in the 55 strong field.\u00a0 Luke Guise made his debut to finish a secure 29th.<\/p>\n<p>Will Longden ran an outstanding race beaten into 2nd by the shortest margin in the U17 race with Harry Bond <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3450 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/buxtonac.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/66470355_10157701934186807_3962888456262123520_o-1-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/>running an excellent 11th. The ever strong Lucy Bednall led the girls home in 2nd with Amy Whelan finishing just outside the podium positions in 4th and Heather Wilshaw putting in a valiant race whilst injured to complete in 10th.<\/p>\n<p>Buxton AC team manager Rachel Dowle said, &#8220;This has been the perfect end to an outstanding Championships for Buxton juniors.\u00a0 From marking the course, to baking cakes and making butties; from keeping the kids safe on the hill and the road crossing to timing the finish and calculating the results &#8211; the Buxton AC parents and supporters <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3451 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/buxtonac.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/66459839_10157701936466807_4649149609401122816_o-1-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/>have put together the ideal finale and ensuring their kids had the opportunity to shine!
