class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Mark Sherratt slashed 9 minutes and 53 seconds from the Buxton Athletic Club Road Race Record for the distance in the Male Vet 50 category, finishing the three lap, undulating race in 35th place from 320 finishers in a stupendous 2 hours 15 minutes and 9 seconds.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>In the Female Vet 60 category, Sheila Bradley smashed her own Club record by 5 minutes and 44 seconds, gaining her first FV60 position, in a speedy time of 2.50.30, 141st finisher.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Seven Club runners took part in the testing event, with Emma Wentworth coming home in 145th (2.52.29), Pete Bailey 191st in 3.08.41, Rachel Dowle 282 in 3.44.51 and Jennie Light 311th in 4.09.40.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Charlie Narejko trounced 13 miles of the course before having to withdraw, but surviving to race another day. <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-3952\" src=\"http:\/\/buxtonac.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/B4A5AFB8-FC3C-4576-8263-06D82CD5F550_1_201_a-300x206.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Still on the roads at the Retford Half Marathon, successfully setting a fine pair of personal best times for the course were Samantha Willis and David Fryer-Winder.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>From a huge field of over 1,000 runners, Fryer-Winder set a 20 second course PB to come home in 172nd place in 1.31.54, while Willis class=\"s1\">International Women\u2019s Day was certainly celebrated by fast ladies this week, and Lauren McNeill lived up to the description at the Beeston Parkrun by leading the entire field of over 400, racing home almost a full minute ahead of the second (male) finisher.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Her time of 17.24 was just 4 seconds shy of her all-time PB at Parkruns, and gave her the accolade of 6th fastest female in the entire Parkruns country-wide.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>What a talent! <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Buxton AC were well represented at a couple of Parkruns last Saturday, and starting with Bakewell, seven were there to fly the Club flag.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Fourth overall and first female in a stupendous time of 17.55 (yet another PB!) was Elle Twentyman, while young Erin Colebrook stormed to a PB in 23.49 (45th).<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Alan Talbot was next home in 55th place (24.14), Charlie MacLaurin 81st in 25.28, Martin Hughes 170th (30.38), Angela Bent 171st (30.50) and, race walking the course, Chris Bent 233rd (37.59.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>A field of 244 took part.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">At Lyme Park, and on a new winter route to take account of the recent wet weather, Ben Light took pride of place to finish in 2nd place overall in 19.06, young Jonty Brown (in a PB time) was 6th in 22.07, 18th was Ross Martland in 23.36, 24th was Pete Bailey in 23.59, Kate Brown 70th in 27.54 (yet another PB), 103rd Andrew Craig in 31.20 (PB) and 119th Anthony Brown (33.25 &#8211; PB).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Several Club Members travelled to Spain to the European Sprint Distance Duathlon Championships in Punta Umbria and there was Gold, Silver and Bronze for the talented athletes.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>In the Female 16-19 race, Lucy Bednall claimed Gold, while in the Male 45-49 event Rob White was proud to receive a Silver medal, and Jo Bednall was equally pleased to come home with a Bronze medal in the Female 55-59 race.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>A great result for the athletes individually and the Club.
